Anasyst – Point of Care Sepsis Detection
Product Brief:
As part of a proof of concept feasibility study, Wideblue worked with Anasyst and the University of Teesside to design a point of care technology demonstrator for the early detection of Sepsis. The point of care prototype device would be used with a number of biomarkers, which were to be developed in parallel by the client.
Our Approach:
The device and consumable were developed by Wideblue and integrated the client’s patented optical system to create a technology demonstrator for clinical evaluation.
Wideblue was responsible for:
- The mechanical design of the cartridge and reader
- Electronics design of the sensing head and light sources
- Firmware control for consumable indexing system
- Manufacture of a single prototype for clinical evaluation purposes
- Optical design and simulation
Solution:
The device was used as part of a clinical evaluation at an NHS hospital laboratory, a number of biomarkers were developed in parallel by the client and tested with the device. The prototype reader device proved to be low cost, reliable with a high level of sensitivity compared with similar reader devices.
