MR CoilTech – MRI 7 Tesla Head Coil Development

Project Brief:

Wideblue worked with MR CoilTech to design a high-resolution head coil array for use in 7 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners. Wideblue was also responsible for designing the mechanical housing, taking into account anthropometric analysis.

Our Approach:

Wideblue worked with MR CoilTech to define product specifications. The head coil array was then designed in SolidWorks, considering requirements including the placement of 128 sensor coils, various patient sizes, and comfortability. Wideblue was responsible for the mechanical design of the head coil housing.

Our Solution:

The head coil arrays, designed for rapid prototyping, were built and supplied to the University of Berkley for trials. The outcome was nothing short of remarkable, with successful trials demonstrating a staggering x10 increase in resolution, paving the way for a new era in high-resolution MRI technology.
